Day 2 of my trip to Alaska brings me to Denali.

After waking up after a good nights rest, I find myself in a restaurant with the aroma of fresh breakfast omlet.

And reindeer sausage. The taste was pretty standard, tastes like almost any other type of sausage. Except maybe a bit more crispy? Alaska has quite a few reindeer farms. And as far as I can tell…they aren’t endangered.

The restaurant had pretty nice mountain scenery.

After breakfast, I took a walk around the lodge before heading off.

The road to Denali was a lonely one. There were few cars if any at all.

Gas on the road to Denali was expensive…really expensive…being in the middle of no where, they definitely have a monopoly.

All the railroad crossings were solar powered…I guess its pretty hard to get electricity to the middle of nowhere.

Upon arrival at Denali National Park, I thought I’d get some fresh hot lunch.

The salmon chowder was quite refreshing. The sourdough bowl was also pretty good.

The burger was delicious.

Taking a look at the gift shop.

This pink little book caught my attention.

Getting on the bus to enter the wilderness.

The roads inside the park were pretty frightening. One wrong turn and we are all pretty dead.

This little guy wouldn’t leave the road even when the bus was really close. Somebody had to exit the bus to scare him off. Brave little fella.

A lucky find?

Inside an observatory building someone was giving a presentation on some fossils.

A nice model of the mountain ranges.

Standing at the observatory window…you can see Mount McKinley (the highest point in North America) from here. Wait…nevermind you can’t, it was too cloudy that day.

After seeing the park, we drove around town.

Denali has a lot of things to do. Definitely worth another visit…

Had dinner in Denali before leaving.

Pizza with meat meat meat and oh ya…meat.

Left at around 11pm…right after sunset.
The road “to” was lonely…but the road back is even more so…
